New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission bans smiling in driver's license photos | syracuse.com:

It took me all night to get over just how funny this is.  First, if I hired someone to come up with a program and it caused people problems, I'd insist that the company figure out a way to fix it. If there was no fix? Fire them and look for programmers who could do the job.  Smart business sense folks!  The state is spending YOUR money on a failure of a program.

Secondly, what comes next?  Will we be reporting to the police dept. to get mug shots?  Front, left and right with that height bar in the background?

The insanity of this is what more do the residents of NJ have to put up with? We already pay the highest taxes in the country only to not be able to use our resources during the summer months for the sake of tourist dollars.  Well, you can use the beaches and campgrounds if you like being nut to butt with people.

Now here's the funny, we have to look serious when we re-new our drivers license so that the facial recognition software won't get confused.  What then happens when the muggers, robbers and rapists commit their crimes with a huge smile on their face?

I think I'm confused now, quit smiling.
